What began as a casual gathering of neighborhood artists tie-dying T-shirts and demonstrating pottery-making techniques has evolved into one of the top juried art festivals in the southeastern United States.

Today, more than 120,000 visitors peruse 215 artists' booths lining historic NE First Street in downtown Gainesville. Artwork includes jewelry, sculpture, fiber arts, digital and traditional photography, mixed media, oil and watercolor paintings, printmaking, graphics and digital art. Young artists sell their work at the Thomas Center grounds and families make art projects at the Children's Rainbow Garden.

Santa Fe Spring Arts was voted the top Florida art festival by readers of Florida Monthly magazine in 2008 and has been recognized as one of the top 20 events by the Southeast Tourism Society. Most importantly, the festival represents a visual manifestation of Gainesville’s cultural richness and shows who we are as a community.
